Pharmacologist deemed the author of patents for products already recognized, commonly used by the general public, dr. Ovidiu Bojor is a fascinating character.

The man advantage of the Eastern Carpathian Mountains of Calimani began its journey in professional botanist traveling in his native Transylvania for more than 40 000 km on foot!

After years of work he became UN expert selected by the computer to participate in scientific expeditions in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Zaire, Botswana, Uganda and participating in major African projects for environmental protection.

But the next most unusual of his career is linked to the Himalayan expeditions. The roof of the mysterious world.
Always interested in plant life to the great heights that he had observed in the Pyrenees, in the Pamir and Kilimanjaro,dr. Ovidiu Bojor has also involved the adventures of climbing Nepal, climbing on top of Gurjahimal.

He evokes, with the same capacity to relive the details of the escalation, risk taking, relationship with the indigenous population, very charming and warm, the struggle with the cold and the pitfalls of the mountain, the atmosphere so rarefied at higher altitudes.
Always interested in the traditional medicine of the peoples of the world, the mysteries beliefs, dr.Ovidiu Bojor is the follower of a particular philosophy, a nobility of thought that integrates all knowledge, all data acquired and also feelings, moods and emotions.
"Remember that the future generations must find natural resources, the landscape intact and I dare say, rather embellished! It is essential to sow a plant or a leaf was harvested to prepare a cure for our health! "

Fascinated by the study of folk medicine and traditional Romanian, and the myth of Zamolxis was a faith, king, god of the physician and DACS, Bojor said:

"It is a theory millennium can not heal eyes without thinking of the whole human body, we can not heal the body without thinking  of his being, we can not cure people's illnesses is not known if their souls ... This concept of holistic medicine it is found in all major civilizations of the world, in China, in Tibetan, among African peoples and Native Americans: The body and soul must be cured together with the help of that nature can offer. "

All his experience, the wisdom of his life dedicated to this noble goal, know the nature and the plant world, enriched by shipments, years of study and research, all this is reflected in his books written and published for help people by advocating a balanced life, close to nature, for wisdom and limiting consumption senseless for an inner balance and optimism that can only come from the nature around us.
Here are some excerpts from the interviews I conducted with Prof. Bojor in 1994 and 1997 included in the TV documentary A man of heights and Charming  Bojor.

- What is the role of Transylvania, you were born in your biography and also the passion that animated all your life, that for plants?
-I was born in Transylvania, as my parents and parents of my parents, most of the men in my family were concerned about the natural sciences. I was born in the mountains of Calimani I started to learn the secret of the flora from the age of six when I got used to it with plants, animals and rocks the place of my birth.
So, the passion for botany began in childhood, around the town of Reghin.
-Exactly, it's a passion of life and continues even now because I have big plans for the future!
-You were still some important precursors.
- I think first with a lot of recognition Florian Porcius, Bart Alexandru, Alexandru Buta, Professor Stefanescu who came from Bucovina, very close to our home, Transylvanian, teacher Morariu and many others...
"It is all a life dedicated to science
"It is a lifetime, that is to say 45 years ...
I started with "Economic research on the flora spontaneous medical and other useful plants," while taking into account the laws of conservation.
From my youth I had this preview of an optimal relationship between the exploitation of nature and environmental protection? That was decisive in my career. The method I developed my way opened for scientific research. This is the springboard that launched me into the world to my research in Africa, Europe and Asia.

-More precisely, how the events have happened?
-Just in the United Nations system is the computer that made the selection starting from a database. From my patents, my studies and also to my research, I have just been selected.
I grew up in Transylvania, so I also speak German and Hungarian, as the French and Italian because I worked in Italy. Afterwards, I learned some dialect of Nepal who helped me in my experiences in the Himalayas
,Pamir and Kilimandjaro.
-It is now in this part of your life that ignites the imagination of young course. Tell us about your shipments African, Asian?? A world apart with other laws and other insights ...

-I will start with Africa because Africa has meant to me first a connection with my country! In 1846, then At the time of Livingstone and Stanley, a pharmacist in Transylvania, born in the land of my ancestors, explored the Sudan, brought the country together after the objects in a wonderful ethnographic collection. So it was someone from home, Binder explorer who brought this collection he gave to the Museum  Bruchental and the College of his hometown, Sebes, Alba.
I remembered his story while I was in Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Zaire, Zambia, Tanzania to prepare for the phases of the UNIDO project for development.

The other passion that has accompanied me throughout life has been the study of folk medicine, ancient, traditional peoples of the world. I have to start with Zamolxis, (x )the myth still continues for me all my life. Millennium is a theory: you can not treat the eyes without thinking of the whole human body, we can not heal the body without thinking of  whole  being, we can not cure people's illnesses is not known if their souls ... This concept of holistic medicine it is found in all great civilizations of the world, in China, in Tibetan, among African peoples and Native Americans: The body and soul must be cured together with the help of nature has to offer.

This view of traditional medicine found in Chinese in Tibet, in the Ayurvedic system and Sitha, the system UNON in central Africa and is found among Native Americans, well, this design was as ours, the design of Dacs.

-Tell me, The Himalaya attracted you because they seemed an impregnable city, they interesting side point of view of the natural sciences, for practices of traditional medicine and all sides together? As myth, as a symbol?
He must return to your first question ... I repeat that life has been generous with me, I could explore some of the most difficult and inaccessible I was on the set of elephants in Kilimanjaro, I did in Afghanistan worked the bottom, Pamir. What attracts me everywhere? This obsession, see the evolution of plant forms in great altitudes.
Do you like the analogies with the life of this great explorer today
Yes, probably we get together, we have the same passions and face like that, I think, at least my ancestors were Celts!
And expanding the most distant of the Celts was The Caliman Mountains and Maramures, I believe I have left traces in my being ancestral Celts!
